Aqua Therapy

Neighbors Chuck and Elisa took me to visit their reining horse Little Man.  Little Man is at a private farm for rehab treatment.  The place is beautiful.

an enormous pig!

The story behind this gigantic pig is that the farm's owner found a tiny piglet in the middle of a busy road in downtown Denver.  She brought the little guy home, where he grew and grew and grew.  They treat him just like a horse (except for the riding stuff, lol).  He gets turned out every day, and has a deluxe stall at night.  Lucky piggy!

Little Man is making excellent progress.  The therapists are taking things very slowly (yay!).  They started him on the aqua treadmill with no water in it, and have added a little more water with each session.  I've condensed his session to about a minute in the video.

I thought his behavior was stellar for any horse, but especially for a four year old stallion.  Good boy, Little Man.  Come home soon.

The farm has just about every piece of rehab equipment I've ever heard of.  They also have an indoor panel walker.  I'm not big on hot walkers, but this design seems much safer than the old style.

Home, Home on the Range

Home, home on the range
where the deer and the antelope play
where seldom is heard a discouraging word
and the skies are not cloudy all day

David and I saw this herd of antelope
on range land just north of our ranch.

The buck quickly placed himself between us and his herd.

What a smart and handsome guy.
We left before he felt the need to move the herd.
