Winter Driving

When we got up this morning to go feed horses down at Chuck's (yes, we're still at Chuck's), we saw a flipped car at the intersection of the county road and our cul-de-sac.
David was first on the scene.  The two teenaged boys were unhurt, but their shiny red pickup wasn't as lucky.
Chuck saw another accident on his way to physical therapy.  The car had slid down a 30' slope.  It's a harsh reminder to be careful even when the roads don't look that bad.

Don't ask about the barn roof.  Let's just say we're still at Chuck's and leave it at that.  Sniffle sniffle.

Hmm... two teenaged boys you say? I remember fearing for my life when I rode with my teenaged brother after a fresh snow. LOL

(*whispers* Sorry about your barn roof!!)

Teenagers need to be reminded the most, I think. We are supposed to get our first snow this weekend -- hard to believe as the weather is really nice now.

I remember my teenaged brother hollering "It's just SNOW!" at cautious drivers. Of course, we lived in the snow belt, so it was a matter of pride to control a skid like it was nothing. :)

Oooou!
I'm so glad that the teens were not as mangled as the truck.

Being a Truck-Girl now too...I bartered for 2 pieces of steel for the trucks bed. They each weigh 108 lbs and sit right above each axle. The ride is so much smoother...but still, I'm driving MUCH slower in these times of slick!

Very scary stuff!

The Memphis Method of dealing with snow is clearly the safest option. Just stay home til it all melts. It could possibly be slightly impractical in Colorado, though...

Uggg, the first snows of winter. Why do so many people seem to have to learn to drive all over again? It's darn scary out there right now.
