Tom and Pat

We had a wonderful visit with my brother Tom and sister-in-law Pat.  They make beautiful jewelry in Asheville, North Carolina.  They are heavily involved in the Southern Highland Guild http://www.southernhighlandguild.org/bauman/
and they are avid gardeners and foodies in their spare time.  They also blog at  http://tompatbauman.blogspot.com/, which I really appreciate because I get to enjoy their garden.

All of our visitors have to admire the horses.  It's mandatory.  Like most folks, Tom and Pat liked big Boomer best.  As long as Paj and Reggie get the same amount of carrots, they're OK with that.

We went over to our neighbors Kate and Mike's alpaca ranch.  Kate let us get up close and personal with her lovely alpacas.

The alpacas were very cute and frisky.

The speckled one is Mizz Fancy Pantz, and the big black guard llama is Victoria.

The video was hilarious. I have never seen Alpacas run before and the one white one seemed to be kind of hopping like a deer. Is the big black one a llama? He/she is a lot bigger than the other ones.
So Boomer is a Clyde! He sure is a very handsome boy.

Yep, the big one is the guard llama. They also have Great Pyrenees dogs that live with the herd to protect them from coyotes.

I didn't know that alpacas would run and play like that. They were so funny. I have to admit that, even just from the pictures, Boomer is a favorite. There's something about the draft horses that just draws you to them.

Terry...You had some storm the other day! Your arena sure is coming along and you are doing it the right way...sometimes mine gets soaked. Liked the alpaca video and I can understand why people love Boomer. The barn is gorgeous!
