May

I planted out my seedlings
on a warm summer day.

I washed the heavy horse blankets
and stored them all away.

I didn't think it'd snow
in the second week of May.

Was it only yesterday
Ben wore his riding tack?

I put weight in the stirrup
and I laid across his back.

If summer ever comes
we'll be ready for a hack.

Oh my goodness, I would lose it if it snowed here right now.

Love your poetry! I'm guessing you're not snow-safe out there until about mid-June. We got snow one year in early June where I grew up in the snowbelt.

I'm imagining an amazingly fun ride with David on Boomer and you on Ben. What a great picture that would make!

You're a poet, and know it!
I WILL stop complaining now about our weather. Snow eh? What can I say.
Great photos that's what I can say.

Just when we thought it was safe to put away our winter barn clothes. Mother Nature is such a tease.

Nice poetry...sounds somewhat wistful - I understand.
I have to say that the saddle looks a wee bit tiny up on the big back!

I loved the poem, but the subject matter wasn't so great... I can't believe it snowed again! Here's hoping you have warmer weather soon!
