We're off to a rocky start this New Year. Paj has his first abscess since we moved in, and my back is sore. Two unrelated occurrences? Not hardly, as anyone who's done the soaking and bandaging knows first hand. We're getting the shoe back on tomorrow, so I'll quit whinning.
I discovered a helpful trick. Paj goes into an Old Mac boot by day, so he can walk around his run, and gets bandaged by night while he's confined to his stall. The Old Mac does a great job protecting his sole, but his heels get sore. I discovered a stretchy Grandma sock (like I wear around the house) fits under the boot nicely, and protects his heel.

I just hope that the other horses don't laugh at him for wearing my socks!
Guess I better get the clippers out soon - those ankles are looking pretty shaggy.
