Just Hanging Out

Yesterday was rainy, windy and cold.  The boys spent some time in their stalls and runs, which is never popular.  Today it's cool and windy, and they are happy to be back out in the pastures.

Paj
Reggie

Ben and Boomer

We blanket each horse according to his winter coat.  Ben is a woolly bear, so he's naked.  Boomer and Reggie just need something light to cut the wind.  Paj has a pitiful winter coat, so he needs a real blanket, at least for the morning.

Hi Terry ! it`s really chilly here too -have lit the fire tonight for the first time -you can smell the logs burning at the far end of our road- at least the sun is shinning where you are ! x

What's with all the wind from one end of this country to the other? We are in the 50s here.

It was cold and nasty there for a few days. I'm glad our sun is back and we've warmed up again! Wish we could stay like this!
I like that you really think about the horses' needs when it comes to blanketing. One of my pet peeves is seeing horses out in pasture with their blankets on after the day has gotten warmer. How uncomfortable they must be!
Pippin had to borrow a blanket a few years ago when his tooth was extracted and the anesthesia left him sensitive to the cold that night. After that I did buy a blanket for each... just in case, but have never used them.
Does Ben ever nibble on Boomer's blanket? I'm thinking that might be a problem around here!

Winter is just around the corner, and I find myself looking forward to it. Of course, by the time February is ending, I will be so anxious for Spring that I will be just the slightest bit cranky. I'm glad that the horses have their nice warm blankets to be cozy in.
