Trip 1 - The Furry Scurry
Mickey
The Furry Scurry is "the nation's largest dog walk". It benefits the Denver Dumb Friends League, a cause I support. It was a lovely day and a ton of fun. I could not find my camera battery, so click here to see official photos.
Trip 2 - The Great Western Alpaca Show and the Denver Fiber Fiesta
Neighbors Kate and Mike planned to participate in this show, and I wanted to see them. But as luck would have it, they had a sick alpaca and needed to stay home.
This was a three day show with alpacas from all over the West. I must have been there on Brown Boy Day, because all I saw was brown boys. Lots and lots of brown boys.
The classes were what horse show folks call "reason classes"; when the judge pins the class, he/she explains why they were placed in that order. I know nothing about alpaca conformation or fleece judging, so this was very interesting. I heard a lot of "his fleece was more organized" (what the heck?) type of stuff.
It was nice to see the camaraderie.
There were fiber demonstrations
and all things alpaca for sale.
Meanwhile, back at the ranch, I finished weaving the baby blanket. I threw it in the washer and dryer, ironed it, trimmed the fringe and sent it off to baby Hannah.
it turned out a-okay

Oh my goodness, that's for Hannah?!?!?!?!?!?! WOW Terry, that is so beautiful and so thoughtful. I am speechless!! I can't wait until it gets here. Hannah will love it.
What a beautiful blanket, girlie colors too.
We lost our Yorkshire Terriers at Denver airport, enroute from England.
One of the kennel workers had taken them home for the evening and returned them the next day....of course we had no idea at the time ;)
Lovely show you attended.

Wow, that's a beautiful blankie, at least I think it is a blankie, that it is beautiful, I know for sure. Sounds like great trips.
A "Fiber Fiesta," what a great name! That blanket is beautifully done, lucky little Hannah.
I would have enjoyed both events! Those alpacas are gorgeous, and so is your blanket. You sure know what you are doing. Are you weaving regularly now? How is your husband doing, and the horses? And you?
I'd say that blanket s more than "OK" - it is stunning!
The alpaca show sounds very interesting. I know nothing about them, except they are smaller than llamas and they are fuzzy. Oh, and they poop in one pile (I think?)
It sounds like you had a busy weekend.
Hello Terry:
This all looks to have been interesting and fun too.
We knew nothing about alpacas until some years ago when we met a woman who bred them. Such fascinating animals and the wool, we believe, is wonderful.
Hi Terry! Your baby blanket is lovely. I'm in awe that you made that! I rarely go to Denver, mostly because of the drive, so twice in one weekend would happen to me every few years! The alpaca show sounded fascinating. And didn't Mickey look cute in his Furry Scurry bib! I support the DFL too, even though I don't have a pet. Have a happy day!
Love your blanket! Nice job girly!
I have not completed a project as of yet on my loom. I have managed to spin and complete some yarn. There is for sure a learning curve to that LOL. :O).
Mickey looks very excited and happy :O).
Aren't Alpaca's just the cutest things :O)
That scarf looks like an old welsh weave
That babies blanket is so cool :) I would love to be able to make something like that.
I love that blanket, it is gorgeous!
OKAY!? I'd say! It is lovely, Terry! Good job.
Have heard so much about Denver, as to it's beauty and location!
Look at Mickey! in a walk/race' no less!
And all those 'brown boys'....it would be very interesting sitting in on a one of these judging sessions.
The baby blanket looks so soft and warm. The colours are just perfect for the baby!
I am amazed at the alpaca world out there. I wonder if they do that here? I bet they do.
Denver certainly had you spinning around that w/e!
Ron
Love the Hannah's blanket. Well done! You are very talented for sure.
Sounds great to participate at The Furry Scurry. Congratulations to you for support that cause. And Mickey looks very happy.
Sounds you had a lovely and agreeable day in Denver!
