St. Patrick's Day

I've wanted to share this beautiful commercial from Horseware of Ireland, and St. Patrick's Day seems like a good time to do it.

To me, it speaks of the passage of time with our own horses and with David, the love of my life.  When I look at David's senior horse Reggie, I don't see his gray temples and loss of muscle tone.  I see a younger version of us all.

Reggie at 3 years old, with David and me

When I look at Reggie's grumpy old face, I see Young Reggie, and I see past him to David's first horse.  David bought Skipjack as a 3 year old, fresh off the range in Wyoming, and transformed him into a fabulous event horse.  We had so many happy years with this great horse.

David and Skipjack

We've always kept our horses all the days of their lives, and tried to give them the best life we could.  It's been a great ride.  I hope we have many happy rides ahead.

The next time I get all St. Patrick's Day-sloppy-sentimental, I'll tell you about my horses, past and present, Endive, Hans and of course Paj.  But I probably won't get all sloppy-sentimental...until next St. Patrick's Day.

When a commercial can make you cry, you know it grabs you. So beautiful, as is this post.

Horses are a big commitment, aren't they? You are so much more a team than with a typical housepet. I can't imagine seeing a trusted partner through 20 or 30 years and having to say goodbye. Half that time with a dog is hard enough.

Hi Terry..it's me again!

Thank you so much for the Anniversary card...you are the only sweetie to send us one and so I put it on my facebook page.
I then thought...hey...how can we get you on FB along with Janet Parry in Wales, Louise in Aurora and many more.
Just a thought and it would be so cool to have you part of our crazy world .
Thanks again!
Ron

How did I miss this?! Oh I am sure you know how I did!
Nothing sloppy about this at all Terry. Thanks so much for sharing this very important part of your lives with us. I can feel the passion both you and David have for your horses. And to keep them to their last days is heart-warming. You are all so fortunate to have each other on this journey. There! You're getting me all sloppy and sentimental!! lol

What a touching commercial...but what you wrote really made me tear up. I don't meet very many people who keep horses for their entire lives. Thank you for being two of them. That's how it should be...
Sending you both a big hug-and thank you for sharing.
