A Change of Pace

Yesterday Mickey and I visited my old stomping ground, Golden Colorado.  Before the ranch days, David and I kept our horses in Golden.  It's one of my favorite towns.  Golden lies between North and South Table Mountains to the east, and Lookout Mountain to the west.

South Table Mountain

Clear Creek cuts through the north part of Golden.  It's a popular spot for kayaking, tubing, and wading.  It can be a treacherous river after a good rain.

I found a nice shallow wading spot, but Mickey wasn't interested in putting even a toe in.  I'm thinking my dog is pretty smart.  We wouldn't want him slip-sliding away.

Beautiful picture!

The first video looked like an awful lot of work! The second one looks a tad dangerous!

I can see how the mountain got its name ! That water does look a tad fast to me-far too easy to lose your footing and get carried off -then I`m not very brave or a very strong swimmer either !

That kayak is even shorter than the ones Miss Chef used in her classes! Very impressive. I watched the kids go down, but I didn't see them come back up--no wonder Mickey wasn't interested, lol!

Our son goes to Mines. I fell in love with Golden when we brought him out for a pre-college decision making trip. Our son loves hiking up the table rocks - and wants me to go with him sometime to watch the sun rise.

That's one tiny kayak! The second video looks like fun, in a dangerous kind of way.

What a beautiful area. I've only been there a couple of times. (Last time was to try out a horse for sale...but it took off with me on a mountain road, so I didn't buy it and I haven't been back). That poor Kayaker...looks like, 4 strokes forward, 15 strokes back. Must be great upper body exercise. I've not tried it. I'm chicken. But wading sounds lovely. Was the water chilly?
