Who-who-who-who?

At daybreak, we had a Great Horned Owl perched on our chimney.  We listened to his soft who-who-who-who all through the morning barn chores.  After he flew off, I wandered up to the house to see what he was after.

On the side of our house, seemingly overnight, we had
an extensive
Vole Villa!

Please come back, oh Great Horned Owl.  Bring the family.  Bring the coyote pack too.  Have a big ole Vole Fest.

I hope those owls return soon, feast on the voles, and serenade you with their hoo-hoos

I have the same problem, it's not safe to walk in the yard! It does look like Jill is trying, but I think they have been procreating all over the place!

Oh lucky you! How nice to have a beautiful, vole eating owl about the place. They are such beautiful raptors. I thought about attracting some barn owls to our place, but I didn't think it would be neighborly. The house closest to our barn has little doggies in the backyard and I'm afraid the owl would get them. And I like that neighbor...and her little dogs too.

How'd I miss this post?
An owl? How cool is that! Oh, I do hope he comes back to help you with your vole problem. Those guys are hard to catch and eradicate. We were overrun with voles, pocket gophers and ground squirrels at our Black Forest house. Here we have some ground dwellers, but most of our problems come from the deer and the bunnies.

We don't have moles or voles, but we do have gophers1 And they are big! Thanks for stopping by and cheering me up. We had a virus not covered by the flu shot. I haven't been this sick for over 20 years. Because I do get the shot. Samson had one thing and Soldier something else. Both are doing better. Angel drinks the same water as they do and eats the same food, she is the oldest and she is fine! Only she and the bird have been OK through all this. I hope the owl comes back, they are so great.
