First Project
The warping board
Oh dear, I don't think that's how we did it in class.
The cross looks okay -
let's give it a try.
To the loom!
Sley the reed!
Thread those heddles!
Drat!
Look at that mess in the middle!
Why it's...
the much-dreaded crossed threads!

This must be fixed before proceeding!
At last, I'm weaving.
It's just plain weave - over, under, over, under
The warp is a variegated tencel,
and the weft is tencel in a solid teal color.
Ta-da-
The ridges are just from folding.
Tencel was a good choice.
It's very soft and drapes well.
Of course I made my first project for David,
who's been doing my chores without complaint
while I merrily go to class.
Wow! Your scarf is beautiful. Amazing to see the whole process. Have fun! And I love the picture in your blog header.
ReplyDeleteThe colors in that scarf are just gorgeous. My mother learned to weave and I still have scarves she made for me. You will be so good at this. I just know it.
ReplyDeleteTerry, this is beautiful! Seriously, you've made this with love, sweat and tears. Look at he smile on David's face. I really would love to try this, maybe some day!

Little Miss Weaver!! I love this too! Looks tedious, is it? Probably straight forward but tricky at first I would think.

My mother was a very talented and an enthusiast wool weaver and teacher. If you have the time, please click on Tapestry, to see my mother works.
Have a good week ahead.
Nice weaving. It looks pretty complicating and you did a great job with it.

Hi Terry! I am in awe of your weaving! And David ~ he's such a good sport as well as model. I was thinking of you two yesterday as Terry and I visited Waimea Valley and saw the falls. What a gorgeous spot on this earth! Thanks for posting the spring flowers. I know I'm missing them here, and yes Paj is fairest in the field!
ReplyDeleteMy Terry says he is still flattened by our spring too. You are so funny! Have a good one!
Try, That's So Great! ! !
ReplyDeleteMy Husband Is Going To Be Jealous...He's Always Longed To Try.
Yikes! Your blog hasn't shown up on my reader for weeks! I can't believe I missed your weaving. It looks GREAT!!!
